Welcome to the website of the Midland Veterans’ Track and Field League.

Brief History and Aims of Midlands Veterans’ Track and Field League

In 1976 an inter club fixture between Worcester and Stourport was extended to include M40 and W40 competitions.
In later seasons a veteran fixture including those clubs and Cardiff and Dartford Ladies was then set up.
From these events Leagues in the Midlands, Wales and South East England evolved.
In the Midland Veteran’s Track & Field League we now have 22 clubs divided into three divisions.
We provide track and field event competitions for the M35,40,50,60 and W35,40,50 60 age groups.
A range of events are held in all three divisions at four fixtures held at the beginning of May, June, July and August on Wednesday or Thursday evenings.
At the end of each season the best eight teams from the 3 divisions are selected for the A Cup Final and the remaining teams compete in the B & C finals.
Our Cup Final in 2011 is to be hosted by the South Division at Worcester on
Sunday September 4th.

At present our North Division has six teams and in recent seasons the number of competitors in several women’s events has been disappointing.
We would welcome enquiries from clubs in Staffordshire, Shropshire and neighbouring counties who would like to join this division for the 2011 season.
Applications would be considered immediately.
Any club in another area is welcome to apply for 2012.  We normally consider applications at our AGM in November when we can reorganise our divisions if necessary.
In order to boost numbers we have also decided to relax our rules and allow guests from non league clubs in North Division fixtures in 2011.

advance.  You will need inform Dave of your UKA registration number.

Please do not just turn up on the night as you may be disappointed.

Our hope is that guest athletes will be encouraged to get their own club to join the league or if that is not possible they could join a league club.  The standard of competition in our events should suit all from the the stars to the modest newcomer to the sport.

Our clubs are allowed to use  3 male and 3 female  second claim athletes.

Events are usually full in the East and South Divisions so they are unable to accept guests from other clubs this season .
